I stand by my advice to wait until age 8. Does it not occur to anyone that the reason some little ones are so successful with learning /r/ is that THEY HAVE JUST BECOME READY TO DEVELOP IT NATURALLY?!! This is one of my pet peeves: we spend so many hours working with kids who have errors that are not impacting them educationally and that will correct on their own! Sure, it's good for your ego - kind of makes you feel like "uber-therapist" but shouldn't we give these little ones a chance to just develop this on their own and spend our hours with the ones who need it most? Obviously. I'm talking about single sound errors that do not affect intelligibility and are not impacting reading and writing.
