I work fulltime in the schools and part time in private therapy. Not all the clients I see in private therapy would qualify for services in the school. They have to show a need which are not the same scores that we need at school. Then the doctor and insurance company will ok the therapy.
I try to explain to parents (in both settings) what is required to be eligible for therapy. In a way it is kind of nice to start sooner with kids that I couldn't in the schools. I still use my professional judgement when making decisions in both settings.
I hear your frustration and have been there too.
