I do the same kind of things with my carryover artic. students. I reduce their speech sessions to 1x month (for several months) and if they continue to use correct speech when in therapy and when observed in the classroom, then I meet with the parents and recommend discontinuing services. I explain that the student has the skill to monitor their speech and it is their responsibility. We can only do so much (can't follow them all day long to check on them) and I have found that most of my students eventually begin to use correct speech on their own.
