My child is 8 yo. He was dx autistic 6 years ago. Current gars and asperger rating scales continue to support diagnosis. He does not speak or write in class, but is verbal. He has perseverative interests, stim activities, sensory concerns, etc. The school provided no support as there is "no academic impact since he reads significantly above grade level". How would you argue the academic impact of his autism? He could use support with social issues, sensory concerns in the classroom, and oh yeah, the whole speaking and writing in class thing.
