I used to be quite skeptical about using auditory bombardment. For my first couple of years I was using a haphazard sort-of-cycles approach that never included auditory bombardment. I had some success but it took a long time. Later I decided to do a real, true Cycles approach and follow it to the letter, including auditory bombardment. I saw much quicker results. Now, was it because of auditory bombardment or because I followed the whole Cycles program? I'm not sure, but I am sticking with auditory bombardment.
By the way, when I do auditory bombardment I never have enough time to set up headphones, tape recorder, etc, so I simply have the child color while I read the Easy Does It - Phonology auditory bombardment sentences. I read them in a very clear, loud voice close to the child. I figure they are still getting "bombarded" even if it's not coming through headphones.
I'll be interested to see what others say about auditory bombardment.
