I'm having the same problem with a client of mine. I've tried oral stim so he can feel the base of his tongue and where it should contact the back of his mouth. The student seems to understand what he should do, but just can't. He can't conciously lift the base of his tongue without his tongue tip. His /k,g/ productions are a hard glottal attact (like clearing phlegm from the throat) which prevents any voiced sound to be able to connect. I have noticed that he can produce the hard attack at the end of words, so I am experimenting with 2-word phrases like "black cat" in hopes for generalization to initial position.
Also I have had him try to tilt his head back to help lift the base of his tongue - no success
