I have the same problem with a student of mine. He can only produce the /k,g/ sound as a hard glottal attack (sound like he's clearing phlegm from his throat) so he can't connect voiced sound with it. However he can put it at the end of words. So I'm working on 2-word phrases like "black-cat". I'm hoping that he can use the /k/ sound at the end of 'black' to repreesnt the beginning of 'cat'.
