Sometimes it's worked for me to pair vowels with the target consonant that don't make "real" words. Tea is a real word. "tah" (with short vowel) isn't so there's not that habit. It's also worked for me to teach them to extend the vowel sound a little longer. Good luck- sometimes those K's and G's are as difficult as the R's!
