SLP certification

Hi. I have a question about certification. Our district just hired a new speech therapist who has a bachelors in speech and a masters in special education. Is that ok? I thought we had to have a masters in speech but could have our undergraduate degree in something else. I'm a little stressed out because now I'll have twice the number of access students to deal with.
I'm not upset with the new therapist. I haven't even met her yet. I just don't understand how this is acceptable.
