This is my understanding on Dr. referrals in schools. A Dr. can write an RX but if at the team meeting it is determined that there is no adverse impact on academics, the school is not obligated to test or provide services (parents can always seek outside services). Therefore, the date on the Rx doesn't matter as an RX does not entitle a student to services in the school. So the 60 days starts with parent signature, not Dr. signature. One additional thing to keep in mind . . . in our district, when a parent requests a team meeting to determine if testing is warranted, the meeting must be held in 48 or 72 hours (I can't remember as I do not coordinate the meetings). Hope this helps.
