Hi,
I am a parent with a toddler. We are both getting very frusterated that she is having problems communicating with me. Its at the end of the school year so the school system has blown me off and tells me they will not be able to fit my daughter in till the fall. That is a very long three months away or more. That is lots of time I see as she could be progressing. I am looking for any and all ideas to work with her. She has a very short attention span and I am working on her room so its nots over stimulating so i have a place to teach her. She says one word sentances and we have been working on eye contact for two weeks or more and she has been doing really awesome with that and has even increased sharing her moods.( some which I wish we could find another way of expressing other than hitting) She is mostly very happy go lucky.
Should we just start with cards with pictures on them and see what she can name and then identify the sounds she can not say? She gets tired of that real quickly and soon ignores whom ever tries it with her.
I saw a video on youtube on teaching them words with block play and found that the most extremely helpful and plan to try that as soon as we get her room ready.(teaching on top, behind, next to, in front,)
I am hoping she might atleast parrot talk some of the words.
