Now for my facts. I know you read somewhere how Ole Miss/Kelly set all these records this past year on offense. You read it, poke the chest out, and smoke a cigar. However, when you look a little closer, it wasn't as what it seemed.
If you back out UT Martin, Fresno St., New Mexico St., etc....and just look at SEC games here is what you get.
Yards per play: OM = 6.2
Yards per Play: LSU = 6.0
Also, in the bowl game, when LSU finally opened it up, they averaged 10.2 ypp, while OM gained 7.7 ypp in their bowl game...both came against very crappy big 12 defenses.
OM had the better season, because they beat LSU, even though both teams finished with 3 losses.
Assuming OM can evade the NCAA (which I'm not sure they can) with all the obvious recruiting issues, I'm actually glad they are a competitive team now. Please though, win something before considering yourself an elite program. You can start with actually winning a West title. Good luck on the season, should be a good one for sure.
Roll Tide!
