I think the stage was to big for Harris again...I noticed the first pass of the night sailed 5 feet over the rec's head...it reminded me of what he did last year at Auburn.
It was no rocket science that Saban was going to sell out to stop #7. I believed that LSU would develop a gameplan to take advantage of the mismatches in the secondary with Dural and Dupree...and with the mobility of Harris. Apparently Miles believed that he was going to stick with what he does best, instead of trying to exploit bama's semi weaknesses. There was no contingency. Bama was stacking the box and run blitzing on almost every play....daring Harris to beat them.
The sad thing is that Mles came out and said that LSU has only NOT been in position to win 2 out of the last 5 games....so why should he change his scheme based on those two times....Miles still doesn't believe his offensive scheme is at fault. That's the most frustrating. He is just to stubborn...almost to the point of arrogance.
I would have rather them throw it deep three times in a row with those one on one matchups and tall rec's......hopefully completely at least one. While they had success throwing it deeper...they mostly tried to throw short and intermediate passes...which aren't taking advantage of the strength of Harris or the mismatches. Oh well, I got a sneaky feeling that the two meet again......and as you said, oh the irony. That said, LSU may get ran out of BR this week against Arkansas.....
Roll Tide!
