MAIS is going to be really fun this year in the playoffs (not that it hasn't been recently). Triple A football is fantastic this year. While the locals in the Misslou area continue to believe it is all ACCS/Cathedral (for good reason), I'm still very much a believer in Simpson and Indy. Indy is undefeated (like ACCS) and has won every game by at least 18 points except one (against Pillow, who I believe is 4a). They gave ACCS a heck of a game last year as I recall, and word is they are much improved this year. I still believe Simpson is for real. They blew a second half lead against Cathedral, for their only loss of the year, but they also just beat a pretty darn good Columbia team by 4 touchdowns Friday night. I believe they play ACCS this Friday night (not sure) so that should be another good test. Obviously ACCS is playing great ball, and has to be at least considered the co-favorite with Indy right now, if not the outright overall favorite. All I know is it has been great having Cathedral join the MAIS and I believe it's going to be one heck of a playoff with those four teams in it, and no telling what surprise team shows up.
In Double A, they have a big game this Friday between Tri County and Canton. TC has a little better record right now, but an easier schedule than Canton, so far. I believe TC has one loss to East Rankin, and Canton has 2 losses, to East Rankin and Leake. Oak Hill is still looming out there and could be the favorite...to me it's still a 3 team race right now, but again, you never know what happens in the playoffs with teams surprising.
As for CFB.....well, I think it would be an Absolute joke to continue to rank Ohio State #1 and Michigan State in the top 5. Both have looked poor essentially every game they have played, and they have both played very weak competition. Michigan State, in particular, if you look at their schedule and results....the team should not be in the top 10. Hard to believe, but I think Jim has turned Michigan around in a very quick manner...and if so, wow. They play Michigan State this Saturday...so a lot will be learned about Michigan. Hats off to what Florida is doing down there as well....and the big 12...all you can do is shake your head....some bad football. The SEC is much weaker than I thought it would be going into the season. Just pretty poor QB play all the way around. I don't currently know of one really good QB with high NFL prospects. That's hard to believe....Anyway....from here on out it should be fun.....I'm gonna enjoy both high-school and college.
Roll Tide!
