You can disagree on LSU's rec corp, that's fine. But if you look at it from 1-6, I don't think it's even close. You have a very good rec on your team...but LSU has several. Dupree was the #1 player out of highschool and is supremely talented, Dural would have been a top 3 round pick if he had come out last year, Quinn broke almost every Louisiana record out there, Diarse is a beast, and Johnson is another True Freshman 5 star...that is some serious talent right there. You don't see that because LSU doesn't throw the ball much...yet...but why would they, at least so far? I'm telling you, Dupree is a monster to defend. I just find it funny that a lot of intelligent people think that LSU does not have good WR's or QB, when they are basing this strictly on output and not talent. Again, if LSU threw the ball 40 times a game, BH would average over 300 yards and the rec's would be household names. The lack of passes, however, is not going to hurt their NFL stock....those guys recognize scheme and talent. The same as a wr who plays on a pass happy team might have 3 times the number of yards as Dupree, but Dupree would very possibly go much higher in the draft.
I'm not like a lot of the fanatics where it's championship or bust. I'd have to wait to see how the season played out....but a nice 10-2 record, while not what I'm hoping for, would be a good season for me. I don't consider the New Year's Eve six anything extra...if it isn't the playoff, then it doesn't carry more weight for me personally.
Again, I'm not trying to intentionally dog on Ole Miss. I guess living up here listening to Bounds and all the radicals calling in, I find it funny. Bo Bounds most definitely pumps Ole Miss btw...everyday, all day. Today he was bashing Miles use of Rb's, how he overuses them all the time......and preaching that LF should sit out next year because Miles will hurt him. That's a joke...Miles uses their horse MUCH LESS than other programs with a premier running back....Miles has always rotated and NFL GM's admire that and that's why RB's are thought highly of from LSU in the NFL.
My question for you is I realize the excitement level is high, but how can you just be absolutely sold on a team that has obvious talent issues on the OL, and an unproven QB. They beat Alabama, but Alabama probably started the wrong QB and had 5 turnovers....yet still managed to gain over 500 yards offense and darn near pulled the game out. Had Kelly had that ill-advised pass picked off for a pick six, and the game swung in Bama's favor...he would be the villain and would have been blasted....as it is, that just basically got laughed off and overlooked. I think OM has some talent, particularly on defense, but I think we will know a lot more after they play this week against a Florida team that has a pretty good defense, but suspect offense.
Roll Tide!
