non-socialist The view and the rest of the left wing propaganda machine need to get a few facts straight. The Republicans have done more over time for the black community then any of the democrats will ever try.
1. The party of the time (soon to be known as Republicans) couldn’t outlaw slavery in the early 1800’s so they made the slave trade illegal, and even sent the U.S. Navy to the west cost of Africa to stop slave ships, until they were called home for the civil war
Thomas Jefferson declared the importation of slaves illegal in 1808, and those engaged in the slave trade guilty of piracy.
2. Abraham Lincoln (R) Emancipation Proclamation September 22, 1862.
3. Group of “vigilantes” that enforced the freeing of slaves throughout the 1870-1890s were not called the “radical republicans” for nothing
4. Thirteenth Amendment on December 18, 1865
5. The Civil Rights Act of 1957, primarily a voting rights bill, was the first civil rights legislation enacted by Congress in the United States since Reconstruction. After it was proposed to Congress by Republican President Dwight Eisenhower, filibustered by the Democrat caucus led by Democratic senator James Strom Thurmond who holds the longest filibuster in history; he wanted to make sure the blacks were kept in there place.
