Posted by John Deer I would like to say genre is the genesis of how and why we see what we do on screen. It not only defines but determines the audience's desire and is instrumental in the way a director would go about shooting his/her film. For all genres have a rich history of shared conventions and codes. Everytime these codes are shared they add another piece to the strand, the strand is always evolving and mutating into different hybrid like forms but always ultimatley remains true to it's original form.
