Poet Mackintosh & MacCrimmon

In Mackintosh's poem Cha Till Maccruimein written in 1915 he talks of MacCrimmon and the 4th Camerons. Was he writing of a particular departure and the reference to MacCrimmon is presumably in the collective/symbolic rather than the particular. Can anyone help?
