hi Kurt Can;t really help much , just back from Isle of Skye last weekend and the place is full of Gillies's and McCrimmons throughout history. One thing i discovered is that of the half dozen or so families that used to live on the now uninhabited Island of St Kilda there were both McCrimmons and Gillies's. I do keep finding instances where the two names are closely linked.
