Hi, My GG Grandfather was Robert McCrimmon, born c. 1862 in Scotland to Malcolm McCrimmon & Elizabeth Gillies, who were married in Ayr, Ardrossan, Scotland in 1856.
Other known children of their relationship were: John Gillies McCrimmon,
Andrew Gillies McCrimmon,
Malcolm,
Margaret & Mary, who were all born in Ayr also. There may also have been another sister, or one of them was known as Minnie.
Malcolm McCrimmon Snr was a shipwright according to his sons, Robert marriage certificate.
Robert arrived in Australia about 1881 & worked at the Balmain Docks in Sydney.
In 1892 he married Esther Allen & had nine children, Doris Elizabeth Jane 1893 - 1987 (Mrs. C.Lindsay) Elsie 1895 - 1936 (Mrs. P. Touhy) Linda (Mrs. A.H.McAlister)1897 - 1962 who was my Great Grandmother, Malcolm (Killed WWI 22/8/1918 Ettenheim Wood France) David Gillies McCrimmon 1901- 1985, Minnie E. (Died early) Esther Minnie 1904 - 1990 (Mrs. A.Croucher) Andrew 1906 - 1985, & Edith Mary 1910 - 1987 (Mrs. J.J.Taylor)
I'm interested in find out more of Roberts life and family previous to his arrival in Australia, if anyone can help, would be great. Thanks.
