Hello, I am a G G G Grandson of John Mcleod, born circa 1811 Skye, married Margaret Mclean,b c 1812 daughter of Ewan Mclean ( and Isabella )of
Waternish, they came to Australia as "Clearance
refugees" on board the Midlothian in 1837, and settled on the property of John Dunmore Lang at Maitland, New South Wales ( Margaret's sister Euphemia Mclean travelled with them )John subsequently drowned in Newcasltle Harbour in 1853
whilst part of a rescue mission to a stricken brig.Any info on their life on Skye, or ancestors, greatly appreciated....thanks
