As far as the mcCrimmons go, Farquhar and Donald seem to have been very common names. I can say with certainty that "your" eldest Farquhar (b. abt. 1780) was not the same as "my" Farquhar (b. abt. 1786), as mine emmigrated to Canada in 1815 with his young bride and infant daughter and his family all grew up there. This link will take you a family tree I have posted: My McCrimmon line left Skye for Glenelg, Scotland in the late 1700s or early 1800s. they emmigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1815, moved to Minnesota, USA by the 1860s, and to California about 1872. I grew up in Oregon, Idaho and Montana, but recently moved to Texas. I can tell you that there seem to have been a couple concentrations of McCrimmons in the Highlands. Of course, the McCrimmons are members of the Harris Sept of the Clan MacLeod, seated at Dunvegan on Skye. Some (my line) seem to have lived in a home called "Swordland" on Skye and also at Borreraig where they maintained their piping college. Some McCrimmons (including the hereditary pipers the MacLeod of MacLeod) redided at Dunvegan. Other McCrimmons also resided at Glenelg, Inverness. As times changed in the 1700s and early 1800s, some of the McCrimmons on Skye seem to have migrated to the Glenelg area. Primarily for economic resons, many people from that area emmigrated to North America. Some McCrimmons went to the Colonies of North and South Carolina in the 1700s, and some of them seem to have fled to Canada after the American War for Independence. Other McCrimmons and people from Glenelg (my line included) immigrated to Canada in the 1810s and after. I have a couple reports I have written on the McCrimmons that I'd like to share. One of them is on the McCrimmon's tartan. I saw photos of you wearing the new blue McCrimmon tartan. We have a kilt that is a rosy-colored plaid. I'll share these with you if you tell me your e-mail address or send me a note at: nsheedy@yahoo.com Kind Regrads,
Doonald,
