Posted by Tim Mccrimmon on 2/9/2007, 9:48 pm, in reply to "from Skye to Glenelg and to Canada in 1815" I received your e-mail and will answer it in more detail shortly. It does appear that we are related. I have a GG Grandfather who died in 1863 at age 75 yrs old named Donald. His son was named Donald as well, his son was named Angus and my father was Angus' son John wesley. I have photos of all the grave sites in Woodville, as well as other areas of Ontario. I will be in touch soon and we can see where the families join up! And welcome to the board!! --Previous Message--
Nick,
: I would like to correspond with other cousins
: who are researching the McCrimmon family. I
: descend from John McCrimmon who was born
: about 1759 in the Highlands of Scotland --
: probably either on Skye, or on the mainland
: near Glenelg. He married Catherine about
: 1786. Her maiden name may have been McRae,
: or it could have been McCrimmon. They had at
: least seven children. The eldest, Farquhar,
: was born about 1787. John and his family
: lived at Glenelg, Inverness, a village that
: looks across the Sound of Slet to the Isle
: of Skye.
:
: In July 1815, at age 56, John booked passage
: to Ontario, Canada on the ship Eliza which
: sailed on 3 August with 123 emigrants.
: Passengers of the Eliza included twenty-five
: families who came from the peninsula of
: Glenelg, among them: twelve McRaes, three
: McCuaigs, and five McCrimmons.
:
: My McCrimmons settled at West Hawksbury,
: Prescott Co., Ontario, Canada.
:
: I have posted more infomration on my family
: line at:

:
: According to another cousin, "my"
: John McCrimmon (b. abt. 1759) was brother to
: Donald Og McCrimmon (b. abt. 1755) who
: settled at Woodville, Ontario in 1816.
:
: I'd love to hear back from you! Reply here
