Posted by Nick Sheedy on 2/4/2007, 2:39 am I understand that a new modern tartan has been developed for the McCrimmon family and is now being marketed. It is primarily blue with a little yellow and green. Does anyone know devoloped this tartan and when? I was wondering if there was an historicbasis to it. A tartan I have that my grandmother's cousin gave her, purchased in Scotland many years ago, is mainly a rosy color with some green. I also have a photo from an old National geographic showing a piper wearing the same tartan leading Dame Flora and the MacLeod Clan in a procession to Dunvegan. Has anyone done any primary research as to the historic tartan of the McCrimmon family, hereditary pipers to the Chiefs of the Harris Sept of the McCleod Clan? --Nick
I have compiled a report on the McCrimmon tartan which I would be very happy to send to anyone who is interested.
