I am also researching my family tree and I believe I am descended from the very same couple!
I cannot find out anything back past Donald and Marion McIntosh Finlayson! Donald's parents being the couple you mention!
I am a descendant of their son Charles and his wife Marion McDougall who migrated to Australia in 1857.
I would be pleased to hear from you!
