Posted by Tom Jones Dear Brothers and Sisters An increasingly bitter dispute has been taking place at the Friction Dynamics Factory in Caernarfon. Two thirds of the workforce, TGWU members, have been locked out for the last nine weeks in a dispute over working conditions. Today the 87 members have been served notice. The company is owned by an American Businessman Craig R Smith ( ex CEO of Raymark/Raytech). We understand that he is alleged to be involved in sharp business practices in his US Companies. We would dearly like to find out more about this guy, and about experiences of people who have worked for him. To publicise the dispute we have produced a web site. It contains press cuttings from the local papers, background information about the dispute,and news bulletins from the picket line. The site is still in its infancy, but we hope to have substantial information available by the weekend. ( The company supporting the site are having problems with the server, so if you cannot get through, please try again later) We are also using the site promote a rally that it to be held on Saturday June 7th. in Caernarfon.
