The Immaculate Conception by James Gorman
The immaculate conception is an old well rehearsed subject. It constitutes one of the most sacred phases of Christianity and -in fact- of Islam. Starting with the right time for deliverance by the promised Messiah, followed by the actual Angelic spiritual fertilization of Virgin Mary, and ending with the dramatic crucifixion and resurrection.
So why should I bother my readers with a new article about the Immaculate Conception
There is nothing more to say and there is nothing more to add. Therefore, it might be more appropriate to close down the curtains and put an abortive end to this commentary.
Not so, speaks James Gorman. His brush rises like a fountain of familiarity and wisdom, thoroughly deflocculated in a solution of bright imagery and further discovery. Jim does approach the extent of the legend, not for browsing around like a tourist of theology, but for unearthing a meaningful picturesque idiom of communicative fulfillment and accomplishment. James declares in most humble fashion: When we dwell on themes of the deep past, We will always hear some warning bells, ringing inside our hearts and buzzing deep inside our minds.
One thing Jim is certain about: When I pray, I always look up high towards the sky. During the day, I see the sun. While at night, I see the stars.
The stars it is. In the past, Salvation descended as messengers from the sky, But Gormans futuristic salvation will be produced by ascending messengers towards the sky. Jim adds that unless we venture outside the realm of our sun and eventually, away from the domain of our galaxy, humanity will be doomed. Sunlight will be forever extinguished and with it, every trace of mankind.
The painting is the size of a wide television screen . Yet it confines our Earth and a wide scope of the stars. A wholly semi transparent ray of light, takes off a sky dominion, descends, in an ever increasing intensity, towards an earthly host. The Host is waiting, she is aware that time has come, She, therefore is ready. She has loaded a side table with wine, two glasses, bread, honey and fruits. She is also holding a small harp nearer to her womb. One can state that she is feeling the intensity of light. Her body signs are not only welcoming, but also ready for participation and production in the promised birth of a new genre of explorers of time and space, for the deliverance of mankind. She is also sending waves of invisible harmony, in straight configurations, towards the origins of the heavinly rays of light. One can only reflect in adoration, We now know the path.
One question is left unanswered, Where about lies this Manger of light? In which city and where about? Where will Bethlehem of the new order rise among towns? Look no further, declares Gorman. For in the background of the young lady, and ghosting through the jet darkness of the Summer night, lest the starry illuminations, one could recognize Glasgow twistingly flowing with the Clyde. Glasgow it is and Glasgow it will be. The mother of telephones and steam engines. The land of Scots, Celts and Vikings. The original country of Burns, Oscar Wilde and the Macfarlane Law. James Gorman is in no doubt.
The new messiah of space-time explorations will originate from Glasgow.
Tonight, When you go to sleep, Just take yourself one minute, think of Glasgow, as a futurisque city, with arms wide open, for love, vision, resourcefulness and venture.
PS. The painting was purchased for an international association.
