I just wanted you to know that May Day was my favorite day of the year when I was young. I came from Nebraska and to us it meant that spring was finally here and the weather was warming. IT meant that flowers were blooming and kindness and friendship was at an all time high. We always rushed home that day and got our baskets ready to go. We took them to our friends as well as nursing homes and shut ins. We made them out of cans with pipe cleaner handles or cupcake papers with pipe cleaner handles or whatever else we could find. The best part was escaping the delivery with out being caught. If they chased you down they could kiss you. When I moved to Texas no one seems to do this so this year my youngest child is in preschool and we are going to work with her class on the tradition of May Day.
