Posted by Rebel Worker on 4/25/2002, 1:28 pm ?Unfit to Govern?? Community Dialogue and Free Spaghetti Dinner While the Ontario Progressive Conservatives are mid-way through their second term in power, citizens and organizations across the province are gathering evidence to demonstrate the impact that Tory policy has had on their communities. There is evidence to suggest that these policies and reforms have had negative impacts on such community issues as: poverty, the environment, and labour. The Tory?s push for privatisation and deregulation of public services and utilities is changing the fundamental values and structure of our province. It is crucial that all citizens be aware of the impacts of these reforms, and critically examine their implications in the lives of all Ontarians. At the ?Unfit to Govern?? Community Dialogue, the impact the Ontario Tories have had on our province and our community will be discussed in an open, citizen?s forum. Key speakers will be utilized to spark open discussion on each issue. The Dialogue will be followed by a free meal, which will provide an opportunity for informal discussion and community building. This event is part of the Ontario-Wide Week of Action (April 27th ? May 4th), being organized by the Ontario Coalition for Social Justice. Locally, this will build up to May Day Celebrations, and a Labour March on Saturday May 4th. The Community Dialogue and meal will be held on Sunday, April 28th at 1:00PM, at St. Paul?s United Church, 349 Waverly St. All are invited to participate, or just come to listen and learn.
