I, too, am from Iowa and have celebrated May Day for 57 years. I am teaching my grandchildren, also. It is so surprising to me that so many people have never heard of the tradition. We always have put flowers from our yard, candy, and popcorn into our baskets. We deliver to friends and family, knock, run and hide. Our tradition is that whoever catches you must kiss you. Thanks to everyone sharing their memories. As Martha would say, "It's a beautiful thing."
