HULKAHOLICS ANONYMOUS #121 IS NOW IN SESSION!!!!!
Well, another Friday night is upon us and I feel like learning some martial arts, meditation, listen to some jazz, and be a hard headed Yankee, have a cup of Mrs. Loo's tea. This is a dead giveaway that the episode n my Hulking mind tonight is actually the last to review: Another Path:
I'll admit, back when I watched the show in syndication in the 80's, the two episodes with LiSung were not my favorites at the time, but upon getting them on video and watching them a few times, they grew on me. This episode more. I actually prefer Another Path over the Disciple. I feel there are some episodes you have to watch a few times in order to like them better.
This is one of these episodes where the first Hulkout occurs early in the story. David is out in the rain and can't get a ride. That truck driver was a real a_______!!!! When David sneaks into the back of the truck, he gets locked in. The driver gives him a ride and turns the temperature to subzero. I absolutely love the first Hulkout and hearing the Ted Cassidy roars the Hulk did in the truck. The only disappointment for me in the whole episode, was that the Hulk didn't get to pick up the driver and throw him. All he merely did was knock one of the trailer doors on him.
Mako gave an excellent performance as LiSung. My nickname for him is the Asian Daredevil. Although blind, his other senses are very accurate. He and Matt Murdock would have gotten along very well. I really enjoyed David's friendship with LiSung. Another plus is the mentioning of Caroline Fields briefly.
LiSung's story in the episode is a really good one. He and a childhood friend, WooChwung and a young American pupil named Steve Silva decided to open a school to teach meditation and martial arts. At one point, LiSung decided to run away and discover, "the real America". When he left, Silva reveals his true colors, kills WooChwung, and begins a protection racket using LiSung's name.
Steve Silva is a truly evil S.O.B. and he also has that Lee Majors Six Million Dollar Man hair style to go with it. Watching the episode tonihgt, I can se more of the evil in his eyes. Silva is a man who has corrupted the skills taught to him and LiSung feels the need to undo his damage.
The second Hulkout was a true TV classic. And it is also a funny highlight featuring Mrs. Loo, the old Chinese grandmother of Mae.She was a real hoot speaking very fast in her native tongue. I loved how David breaks her cup, so she goes to get a ladel to spank him with while he Hulks out. Her reaction to the Hulk is a very funny, priceless one. Even after the Hulk leaves, she is still screaming in her native language. Seeing the Hulk contend with Simon and the martial arts students was a real treat, but seeing the climax martials arts battle in Bionic Slow Motion was even better. That final martial arts fight was perfectly filmed, plus the music in the background.

Another Path is another episode I would recommend to many. I give it a 9.
