"er" "ur" sound

Can anyone out there give me some ideas on how to develop the "er" sound. My son Tanner (7 years old) has went into a shell due to the fact that he can't even promounce his name "Tann-ah" or "Tann-ar" No commitment, no obligation....we just need some ideas. Thanks
