Well...this is how it came to my mind...syntax is the actual structure of speech or written language. for example if i said "they was going to the movies after school today." That is syntactically correct. However, that fact that I used WAS instead of WERE is grammatically wrong. If anyone has any disagreements with this explaination please let me know. I hope this helps huey.
