Hi Eden
Manolis is right - January would not be the best time to go to Loutro, especially not with a small child, especially if you like cooking. Neither of the mini-markets will be open, and you will have to bring all your provisions in from Sfakia. There are only two boats a week, at most (if the weather is stormy not even that) which means walking and carrying the food as well as the child.
I had a wonderful week there in January 2000, and would do it again - but not with a baby.
Whenever you go, have a lovely time.
