Since introducing a new sounding-it-out reading program to my classroom...the speech therapist and I have noticed it has greatly improved the articulation of my students with apraxia. The DISTAR method is used in the book: Teach Your Child To Read in 100 Easy Lessons. The title sounds gimicky but the program helps break the sounds and letters into simple chunks that make sense.
