I used this approach about 10 years ago but truly think it's efficient and would still use it if I worked with preschoolers. It's based on phonological processes and was developed by BArbara Hodson, now at Wichata State University. I don't know if her book (a VERY easy to read, pick up to use book) is still in print. Definately worth a weekend read.
