With the younger kids, I like to use puppets, and ask the children to listen for the object/picture that the puppet wants to "eat". They usually think its funny when the puppet wants to eat something that isnt food. As they get better at discriminating, you can do an onset/rime blending to make it more difficult. (t-ape c-ape)
For the older child, you could pair the cards with an age appropriate game (jenga) and have him select a card before he takes a turn
