I use a Michelle Garcia Winner trick- have little play doh items or something that represents each child out for them to see. When they are listening and interacting appropriately, they are in the group. When they aren't, you remove the representation of them from the group until they begin listening/being in the group. This increased positive behavior and listening drastically with the students I do this with.
