On the Speaking of Speech CD vol 2, there are 10 questions pages for over 20 children's books, all done in text with symbols. I read the questions to the students, they circle the answer from the 3 choices provided. I have used these with my students with autism and in Life Skills and developmental kindergarten programs, and have been amazed at the progress they've made in attending, comprehension, and recall. Great progress is also seen on paper/pencil tasks -- in September, some students are circling everything (or nothing), or are on the wrong question, but it doesn't take too long before they know what to look & listen for in the story, and how to follow along with the 10 question quiz. (We put barriers up or spread the desks apart so the students learn to "use their own brains" and so I get an accurate measure of each students' performance).
To keep things organized, I store the book, the question page, data collection forms, and any other related activities (art projects, recipes, etc.) in a hang-up plastic bag so everything I need for the lesson is ready to go. This makes it handy for teachers to borrow them, too.
