autism and wh-questions

i'm working with some kids with autism whose goal is to answer what doing?, where? questions. I wanted them to develop better comprehension of the material rather than just reading since they are more hyperlexic.

I have used action and other flash cards to have them the -ing verb at word level and at sentence level.

I have been using simple books but they are either too easy or too hard. any suggestions for this group of first graders with autism?
