Sounds like your on the right track..start with the basics..hand claps, animal sounds, etc... I am going to use the "Differential Processing Training Program" from LinguiSystems this summer for some Kindergarten students that sound like your student. The program starts with discriminating hi,low sounds, sounds in background noise, etc..The second step goes into phonemic awarenss, the 3rd step targets higher level language. I use Earobics for 2 children in my school and see improvement in one of the children in the area of rhyming, syllable segmentation, and other areas. It is a worthwhile program that I too recommend. FastForWord is nice, as we have that in our school also, but very intense and expensive
