Posted by NatalieCFY on 3/28/2006, 3:44 pm I have a third grader who has trouble with decoding and phonological awareness. One of his major areas of weakenss is knowing which final /r/ (or medial /r/) to use when the choices are -er, -ir, and -ur (all making the /r/ sound). He tends to omit the vowel all together. Do any of you have any tips or rules to use for teaching these... or have any teachers given you good tips? This is also an articulation error of this student's, but we've been focusing more on his decoding due to his academic needs. Thanks!! :o)
