I don't know if I'd use "Parts" with autistic students. I read it to a group of young boys with MR around Halloween time a couple of years ago, and one of the boys had nightmares for almost a week because he thought he was going to fall apart and his eyes were going to pop out of his head!! The reason I said I might not use it with autistic students, is because they tend to take everything very literally. If you do decide to use it, you might want to be sure that they understand that it's just a story and those things can't really happen to them. I've read the story to other groups since my first experience with "Parts", but I'm always very careful deciding who gets to hear it!! Cute story, though!!!!
