I think its hard for anyone to understand how being manic depressive affects the life of those around them. Only someone who truly loves a manic depressive can forgive the demons the illness unleashes. I can understand why people could talk shit about Nick...I'm sure he did some pretty awful things that aren't easy to excuse...especially if you don't understand the disease. My partner and love of my life is bipolar and if i wrote a book about him it would be like Danielle's. It would speak wonders about him...about his explosive creativity and childlike innocence. I would speak with sadness about the time I almost lost him to a suicide attempt. But I also know the reality that there would be many people who would remember him by the hurtful things his disease has caused him to do. Its the most heartbreaking part of his life...and the lives of all who have to live with it.
