Posted by Kip Hering I am pleased to report that there was only one active gopher burrow in the field when I checked it on Tuesday. There were several on the outside of the field, however. I gave them all some special food suplements that should reduce their numbers. The big test will be next spring when the weather warms up and the critters get active again. Additionally, the Lakeside Polo Club/Hering Ranch is now the proud owner of aa 40" wide areator that can be pulled behind the mower. I areated the field in an hour and a half, also on Tuesday, as well as spreading a trailer load of sand over and into holes and cut marks ( I'm sure I missed a few, but they were hard to see after the areating) and then dragged the field. It looked pretty smooth when I finished (like I hadn't done anything at all)....that's why I'm telling you now .. The field was still a bit wet, especially on the south (mountain) side and at the barn end goal. If it rains/drizzels this week, as predicted, it will probably be too wet to play...but it is repairable and areating it seems to help it dry out. I'll check it today (Thursday). Regards, Kip
