Posted by Kip The field is playing like a dream after the last rain. I spread 700# of gypsum to soften the clays and let the water soak in and aerated the field, filled holes and Karen mowed it, so it's really in good shape. It cuts up a bit, but we played two "calendar" chukkers this morning and had a great time. Reds 3 Blues 2, I think or maybe (hope) it was 3:3. Good time had by all, including the horses. I am in the throws of registering the club with the USPA. The benefit of which is that we will be insured for any injuries while playing. I'll find out Monday what that costs, but heretofore we had been paying $600 a year to insure against a third party liability which was explained to me as: if a horse ran over a spectator... a bleeping spectator? We're no longer insuring spectators, so I'm looking into real Polo Club insurance. If the Monday number blows my mind I'll back off, but I'd like to hear some feed back. To take advantage of the insurance you probably have to be a USPA member. Several of us are, but many are not. If we go to the trouble and expense to register the club into the USPA, I'd encourage you to join. You get a pretty book and everything. Other news, an anonymous ( he calls it any-mouse) donor has put up the money to buy paint and boards to replace those which have rotted out over the past year ( about 20 boards). I've gotten about half the paint and half the board...but haven't gotten the two together yet. I'll let you know when I do and we'll have and Board Meeting. Regards, Kip
