Hi Polo Fans,
We had too much of a good thing last weekend and tore the field up pretty good (?). It was partly our ( the ranch's) fault because since we've fixed the pump and tubing in our well we've been getting more water for the same amount of time as we watered before. Anyway, the field was too wet and we cut it up big time. After a lot of work druing the week we've got it back into shape and we've cut back on the watering, but....
When we picked up the pipes tonight, the field looked pretty good, except that it was still wet along the boards on the north side of the field. For this reason we're not going to open the field for stick and ball on Friday afternoon. We want to save the field for play on Saturday morning when we can all enjoy it. So that's it, Saturday morning 9:30 AM. Closed Sunday for maintainence.
Lemme see, some (more) cheerful news: How about a Polo Clinic on Thanksgiving Weekend? We've noted that we ( don't be shy, it is all of us) need some work on rules, technique and tactics. If we act fast (like, email or tell Russ on Saturday if you would like to be included) we may be able to get a rising young multi goal polo star to come to Poway and Lakeside and give us a clinic the weekend after Thanksgiving. This is not an umpire certification clinic. This is a clinic about playing better polo, having more fun, and winning some tournaments next year.
See you on the field, best regards,
Kip
