Subject: Lakeside Polo Field - Silent Night
Merry Christmas Polo Friends,
It's been a little nippy/frosty out at the ranch these past few evenings and early mornings and the bermuda grass has gone dormant for the winter. Hence, when I got back from Argentina the field looked a little (?) worse for wear and in want of some TLC.
Since then it has been de-thatched, aerated, dragged, seven (7) cart loads of dirt spread to fill divots and gopher holes, gophers poisoned, 200 # of rye grass seed spread, scratched-in, and dragged again and watered. It is now put away for a couple of weeks to let it heal up. I'll let you know when we can play polo again.
Meanwhile, I'll get some treated 2x6's to replace those along the bottom of the sideboards that have deteriorated and allowed the gophers and rabbits free access to the polo field. I think there are only about 6, or maybe a few more of them, that are really bad. I noticed that there are also some sideboards that are starting to warp away from the posts, and need to tightened up with a few screws. A couple of the sideboards probably need replacing too. I'll be out there the Saturday before New Years if anyone wants to help. When I have a time and the materials in hand I'll make my request a little more official.
'Til then, I hope you have a Merry Christmas and let's look forward to a Polo New Year,
