Oof... tough question. Well, if I had to put it all in a nutshell, I'd say the major themes of KOTSW are love, betrayal, and redemtion. I know, those are really basic, obvious themes, but that's the basis, and the basis for a lot of stories. Getting a little deeper... it's about people using love (both romantic and familial) as a weapon. It's a metaphor for Jesus' betrayal and martyrdom. It's a politocal condemnation of the Peronist regime. It's the ultimate "buddy" story.
