I'm sure the timing was a coincidence!
BB is brand like scotch tape, bandaids and Reynolds wrap are the common names for any clear common tap, adhesive bandage or any aluminum foil. But it is true that if you haven't a big picture view of the concept behind the design and the general universe of long term, short term designs or open and closed biochamber designs you might get confused by all the variations ( usually around ease of maintenance) on the BB as if each was an entirely independent concept. Michael as you continue your journey from beginner to intermediate hobbyist these things will become more clear. For now, think of any filter that is closed off and trapping in nature to be of the BB line of evolution. Ironically, the forerunner of all closed conatiners with beads, pellets,marbles, stone sand etc is the undergravel filter bed ( another obsolete design).
